Discover

We’ll begin by grounding ourselves in the histories and aspirations of our students. We use those to define why we must innovate and what outcomes we must innovate toward. We seek inspiration to spark ideas for what’s possible.

CONVENING 1: October 7-8, 2019

At our first convening, we’ll help you synthesize your discovery work and jumpstart the build phase. We’ll explore future trends that will help us forecast the direction schools are moving, seek inspiration across the city, ground our work in equity and craft insights to help capture your biggest takeaways.

By the end of the convening, you will have honed your case for change, drafted your unique vision for the purpose of school, created graduate aims for your students and leveraged collaborative work time to build a plan to move you work forward.

During Convening 2, we will build a signature student experience aligned to your graduate aims that you will test out with your students in the spring. In order to best prepare for the next convening, you will need to sharpen the Discover + Build sections of your canvas. The methods below will help your design team iterate on your current draft of the canvas.

Build

We’ll spend our time together reconnecting with what learning really feels like, and learning more about how learning occurs best. Based on that experience, we’ll design signature student experiences that are aimed at activating one of your graduate aims.

CONVENING 2: April 1-2

At our second convening, we will build a signature student experience aligned to your graduate aims that you will test out with your students in the spring.

Next Steps

In our final Convening, we will celebrate and share the school design visions you have been working on since January and roll up our sleeves to begin to map out what it will take to bring this vision to a reality for our students, their families, and our communities. In order to best prepare for Convening 3, you will need to sharpen your signature student experience, finalize your pop-up plan, and test your signature experience with your students. The methods below will help your design team iterate on your current design.
